Zero Balancing I and II

Zero Balancing I and II in Costa Rica

We are musculo-skeletal beings, yet most therapists focus only on the muscular side of that equation. That addresses only half of that system!  Zero Balancing – by adding a mindful focus on the bones, key joints, and the energy flowing through them, as well as on the soft tissues associated with them – for the first time, also gives you access to the deepest layer of the person – who they are in their bones – thus Zero Balancing adds a much needed wholeness to your work and your clients’ experience.  Zero Balancing is the missing piece in the world of bodywork and bodymind therapies.

This class in Costa Rica (with a break in the middle for exploring Samara and its wonderful beachfront) is additionally special in that Zero Balancing is usually taught in two segments separated by months.  In this very special class, ZB I and II will both be taught, giving you in 8 class days, the entire Zero Balancing Core Protocol!  And, for people who’ve previously studied ZB, you are welcome to join in the ZB II portion of the curriculum.

David Lauterstein has taught this course at CRSMT for several years. In 2023 Lisa Bardarson and Clare Gowen will be the co-instructors of Zero Balancing at CRSMT utilizing the same great curriculum and methodologies developed by the Zero Balancing Health Association.

Lisa Bardarson

Lisa will be co-teaching the Zero Balancing course in 2023.

Lisa Bardarson’s professional experience as a dancer and choreographer were a glimpse into the transformational power of structure (the body) and energy (movement). She was a prominent member of the Philadelphia dance scene for many years and a writer for the on-line dance journal, thINKingDANCE. Her love of movement led her gracefully towards a successful career as a massage therapist starting in the early eighties. Around 1990, her curiosity in Eastern concepts of health drew her towards acupuncture and ultimately, Zero Balancing (ZB) which integrates Western medical science with Eastern modalities of healing. In 2015 she became certified in ZB and more recently as a teacher of ZB. Additional studies include in-depth study at the Laban Institute of Movement Studies and certification as a 500 RYT with a specialty in Yin Yoga. At the start of the pandemic, she formed SloMoYo, a movement-based program that she offered gratis via Zoom, as part of my dharma/outreach to promote well-being. After 40 years of work and study, Lisa is pleased to fold her understanding of the body and Qi, into teaching Zero Balancing.

Lisa is excited to be back at CRSMT teaching ZB again along with her colleague, Clare Gowen.

Clare Gowen

Clare will be co-teaching the Zero Balancing course in 2023.

Clare Gowen PT, CZB started studying Zero Balancing in 2006. Her first session in Zero Balancing (ZB) in 2006 was absolutely transformational. Having trained in so many different manual therapy techniques she could not understand how something so gentle could have such a positive effect. As she felt lighter on her feet and more self-aware ZB training became a priority! In 2010 Clare became certified in ZB. In her more than 30-year career as a Physical Therapist she has found ZB to be one of the most comprehensive techniques for working with the whole person. Research tells us that in ZB sessions we are assisting the client in their own evolution on the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual levels of wellness. She is looking forward to teaching again at the Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy with her colleague Lisa Bardarson,LMT CZB.
