Certification in Manual Lymph Drainage (Vodder Technique)

In this five day manual lymphatic drainage certification, students will learn History of the lymphatic system and Manual Lymph Drainage. Additionally we will cover basic anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system, drainage pathways of the lymphatic system, pathophysiology of the lymphatic system, lymphatic insufficiencies and conditions that lead to the development of edema, difference between edema and lymphedema, as well as indications and contraindications of manual lymphatic drainage massage. We will learn basic strokes for the entire body and their effects, application of basic manual lymph drainage sequences in healthy lymphatic systems, application of basic manual lymphatic drainage to post-traumatic and post-surgical edema, and application of basic manual lymphatic drainage massage sequences to various pathologies (fibromyalgia, migraines, chronic fatigue syndrome).

This course will assist therapists in developing treatment sequences for the management of edema of various causes including post-traumatic and post-surgical edema; as well as several pathologies such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, migraines, chronic pain reduction and others. During this course, the participants will learn to perform techniques that will assist patients and clients in general relaxation, health support and detoxification.

This 5-day manual lymphatic drainage massage certification course is open to Licensed or Certified Massage Therapists, Licensed Healthcare Professionals or healthcare students only.

Corporate Controller for TruMantra Education Group

Damien A. Archambeau is a BCTMB and LMT of 20 years who specializes in therapeutic massage and rehabilitative massage therapy. He will be teaching the manual lymphatic drainage massage certification continuing education course at the Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy. Academically, he completed a degree in Applied Sciences with focus in Massage Therapy. Damien originally was introduced to the industry through his internationally accomplished grandfather, Masso- therapist, James Dispoto. Damien’s love of massage guided him to advance his knowledge in massage therapy to the next generation of massage therapists. Therefore, over the last 10 years, Damien ventured into the education sector of massage therapy as an educator and developed an advanced massage CE course called Myokinesio Therapy. Damien’s tenure and growth with the TruMantra Education Group saw him evolve into the role of the National Director of Career Services, and later into the position of the TruMantra Education’s Groups Corporate Controller. Additionally, Damien’s expertise as a business owner over the last 20 years enhances his role and performance as a Controller for the TruMantra Education Group. Damien chose to expand skills as a therapist in Manual Lymphatic Draining through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies and joined the team in 2021 as an instructor.

  • The course will assist therapists in developing treatment sequences of edema of various genesis, including post-traumatic and post-surgical edema.
  • Treatment sequences will focus on several pathologies such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, migraines, chronic pain reduction, and others.
  • Participants will learn to perform techniques that will assist patients and clients in general relaxation, health support, and detoxification.
  • Participants will be educated on the applications of Manual Lymph Drainage to the pathologies listed above.
  • Please note that the course does not train therapists to treat patients with lymphedema.
  • This course is 5 days in length (40 Contact Hours).  The classroom hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm daily.  There will be approximately one hour for lunch every day.  A morning and afternoon break will be scheduled at the discretion of the instructor.
