Upon completion of this course, students will be able to discuss the benefits of pregnancy massage, identify the changes in the anatomy and physiology of the pregnant body, outline pregnancy by trimesters, and utilize positioning and massage techniques that will benefit the pregnant client. During the course we will practice demonstrated hands on techniques and learn how to utilize health intake forms designed for the pregnant client. We will prioritize the development of communication skills which will assist in creating a treatment plan for the pregnant client. Additionally, students will learn to define what constitutes a “high risk” pregnancy and identify contraindications and precautions while massaging the pregnant client.
