Shelly Wagar’s experience in therapeutic touch spans 20 years through her studies in Yoga, Massage Therapy, Zen Shiatsu, Chinese Medicine, Native American healing modalities, Cranial-Sacral therapy, and more recently, Quantum Shiatsu™. She has been a licensed massage therapist, practicing in Portland, Oregon for 12 years, and a shiatsu instructor and curriculum developer at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine since 2000. Her love for teaching is reflected in her enthusiastic, playful approach to guiding students in developing energetic sensitivity and becoming compassionate, mindful practitioners.
Shelly’s holds a Liberal Arts degree from The Evergreen State College, where she focused her studies in anthropology. She received her massage certification from the East-West College of Healing Arts, and did her post-graduate studies at The Shiatsu College in England. Currently she attends annual seminars with Pauline Sasaki in New York, where she has been studying Quantum Shiatsu™ for 7 years. In addition to her private practice, she gained valuable experience as a shiatsu practitioner in the Immune Enhancement Program at the Institute for Traditional Medicine, treating patients with HIV, MS, and cancer for 10 years. Shelly is a mother, and enjoys art, singing, biking, rock climbing, and spending time in other countries. She looks forward to working in Costa Rica where she can be closer to nature and experience its healing benefits.
